And The Award Goes To...

Fernandez's cartoon artwork in saturated tones and with lush, vibrant backgrounds dense with plants makes for charming, light-hearted atmosphere, within which she affectionately depicts the rich variety of love people can have for one another...

I love this series from Dav Pilkey that's part of the Acorn early reader line, aimed at children who are learning to read. In Dragon Gets By, Dragon is just trying to get through his daily tasks and keeps making many silly mistakes! It’s the cutest story about the fun side of chores and responsibility. Plus, each Acorn title includes fun and engaging activities in the back of the book to capture new readers!

As a child, reading the Harry Potter books would be a way to escape reality. The writing style is easy to read, and the plot of every book gets you hooked by the first sentence. It transports you into another dimension where wizards are your friends, and fictional worlds are your home. When times would get rough, the Harry Potter series were the source of my comfort. I felt like I was a part of all of the friendships and I experienced all of the magical adventures with them. In addition to that, the books taught me the importance of friendship and to not be afraid of being yourself. They also taught me that family is not always by blood, but it is the people that make you the best version of yourself and support you through thick and thin.
